More importantly, IT’S NURSES DAY! We love you, Nurses!
State Stats: There have been 29,996 COVID-19 positive cases in Louisiana,
with 2,042 deaths and 20,316 presumed recovered. There are 1,512 patients
in the hospital (trending lower) and 194 patients on vents (also lower.)
North Oaks Stats: We have 22 COVID-19 positive patients in-house, with
one PUI; 5 patients are on vents. We have recovered a total of 134 patients!
Employee Wellness reports 14 employees home monitoring, with 3 returned
to work yesterday, and another 3 scheduled for evaluation today.
Population Health reports only 47 calls to the COVID-19 line yesterday,
and 13 video visits. The drive-through screening line is open today with
16 scheduled and 15 in the queue. In total we have tested 2,064 people,
with 449 positive results and 29 pending.
Clinic volume is picking up.
We opened the Outpatient Diagnostic Center this week, scheduling volume
at just under 50%. We’ve observed our ability to space patients
safely, and determined that we can begin to increase the volume of appointments.
Please remember to wear your mask appropriately! It should cover your nose,
mouth and chin.
On Monday, 5/11/2020, Michele will be going to the Parish Council for approval
to apply for a Federal Payroll Protection Program grant.
Volume of essential surgeries is still down, a trend that hospitals across
the state are experiencing. Today, Dr. Peltier and Michele will film a
video for Facebook about the steps we’ve taken to ensure we keep
our patients safe, and encourage them to not delay needed care. Also,
Dr. Peltier, Jeff Jarreau and Amanda Morse will be participating in a
Greater Hammond Chamber of Commerce Zoom meeting for employers today at
1 p.m., providing information on COVID-19 data trends, infection prevention
and how to safely return employees to work. Communications is working
on a second COVID-19 edition of CommUnity Newsletter to provide patients
with additional advice as we move into the next phase of the new normal.
NOMC and Hood Memorial have each been awarded $2,500 Rotary District grants
to use toward the purchase of PPE. Additionally, North Oaks received a
$10,000 grant from the Louisiana Hospital Association Education and Research
Foundation for the purchase of PPE.
No issues with staffing or supplies were reported.
Please remind employees to take advantage of the Employee Emergency Relief
Program. Lots of new information about the PTO buyback program, grants
from the Employee Benevolent Fund, accrual of PTO and waiver of medical,
dental and spousal surcharges for insurance is posted to the Coupon Corner
under COVID-19.
