Inside the North Oaks Community Newsletter, September 2024

Inside the North Oaks Community Newsletter, September 2024

In this latest issue of our community newsletter, North Oaks Health System President & CEO Michele Kidd Sutton, FACHE, reflects on the tremendous growth and heartwarming patient stories that define our mission of improving lives every time, every touch.

We’re thrilled to share the news of our new Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Center in downtown Hammond, set to more than double our current space. This expansion will allow us to serve more patients and provide comprehensive care. Equally exciting is the construction of North Oaks Clinic Building II, which will provide expanded space for our growing medical staff and services. These bold investments ensure that our community receives exceptional, personalized care.

One of the most inspiring stories we share is that of Tiffany Tyler, whose life was saved thanks to the seamless collaboration between the North Oaks Emergency Department, Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Hematology teams. Diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, Tyler’s journey from a critical state to recovery is a powerful testament to the integrated, compassionate care that North Oaks provides.

Additionally, this issue spotlights our dedication to supporting exceptional birth experiences. North Oaks Medical Center continues to lead the way with comprehensive care for healthy pregnancies, birthing, and postpartum services. Thanks to the recent renovations of our Labor & Delivery unit, we’re proud to offer families an enhanced, comforting environment that includes freshly updated birthing suites, obstetrical rooms, and support areas.

Our commitment to quality and safety has earned us the prestigious "Louisiana Birth Ready Plus" recognition for four consecutive years, underscoring our dedication to the health and well-being of both mothers and babies. We’re also proud of our achievements in breastfeeding support, reflected in our “Gift” designation from the Louisiana Department of Health.

At our recent Motherhood & Birth Fair, more than 220 mothers, families, and community members could tour the new facilities and experience North Oaks' exceptional care firsthand. The fair, the first of its kind in Tangipahoa Parish, featured various educational sessions and resources to help parents prepare for their journey into parenthood.

Families like Derrick and Brittany Ducote, who attended the fair, shared their gratitude: "It put my mind at ease and made me feel comfortable getting acquainted with the staff and seeing the facilities ahead of my due date.

Lastly, the newsletter introduces new providers who have joined our North Oaks family. We encourage you to explore our Community Education calendar, which features valuable events like health screenings and the Motherhood & Birth Fair on November 16.
