The North Oaks Sports Medicine and North Oaks Orthopedic Specialty Center teams have selected Cayden Boudreaux of Albany and Jeremiah Lewis of Ponchatoula as “Student-Athletes of the 2023-2024 Winter Season.”
Cayden Boudreaux is on track to graduate from Albany High School in May with a 3.74 GPA and plans to attend Southeastern Louisiana University. She is the daughter of Chris and Blair Boudreaux and has competed on the Lady Hornets basketball team as well as the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams for all four years of high school.
As a guard on the basketball team, Cayden has earned recognition as the Livingston Parish defensive MVP with two all-district and three district defensive MVP accolades to her name. Further enhancing her athletic profile, she is a four-time cross country champion at the parish level, claiming the top spot in her senior season at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Division 2 state 3-mile championships with a time of 20:03.4. During the LHSAA Division 2 state indoor track championships, she displayed her versatility by achieving a runner-up finish in the 800m with a time of 2:24.60.
“A champion on the field, the court and in the classroom, Cayden is the quintessential student-athlete. From playing four sports to being elected to the homecoming court by her peers all four years of high school, her journey has been nothing short of inspiring,” asserts North Oaks Sports Medicine Certified Athletic Trainer Trey Bennett.
In addition to her athletic and academic pursuits, Cayden is an active member of the Beta Club and student government. She also is a parishioner of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Albany.
Ponchatoula High School’s Jeremiah Lewis is a senior with a 3.35 GPA who has played basketball for the Green Wave for four years. He is the son of Jajuana Lewis.
As a shooting guard averaging 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game, Jeremiah helped lead the Green Wave to consecutive state championships in his junior and senior years. This season, he was recognized as the “Ponchatoula Shootout Player of the Game” and named to the Tangipahoa Parish all-tournament team in addition to the all-district 6-5A first team.
Jeremiah shares his love of basketball with others by serving as lead counselor of Ponchatoula High’s youth basketball camps and volunteering through school with Special Olympics Louisiana.
North Oaks Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer Nick Owens notes, “It’s been rewarding to watch Jeremiah’s evolution as a leader both on and beyond the court. His resilience in the face of adversity and his dedication to the mentorship of budding student-athletes through the rigors of high school are commendable.”
North Oaks Sports Medicine’s Student-Athletes of the Season must have a 3.0 GPA or higher; excel in athletic competition; participate in school and community service organizations; and garner the respect of coaches, teammates, officials, teachers and their peers.
“Student-Athletes of the Year” will be selected from all fall, winter and spring season honorees.
