Medicine Unit Certified Nursing Assistant Ida Honored as Employee of the Month

Medicine Unit Certified Nursing Assistant Ida has received North Oaks Health System's Employee of the Month Award for August 2023.

Ida is a veteran Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with 42 years of experience in the field. She has belonged to the North Oaks Medical Center team since 1994 and has worked on the Medicine Unit team since 2001.

“I care for my patients like they are members of my own family or a best friend,” Ida shares. 

She is a graduate of Hammond High Magnet School and the Certified Nursing Assistant diploma program of Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge.

Ida is a resident of Robert and has four daughters – Barbara, Debra, Lisa and Vanessa – and eleven grandchildren. When her daughters were children, Ida shares that they were often sick. Their illnesses required the family to spend a lot of time at hospitals, and it is these experiences that Ida credits with inspiring her to pursue becoming a CNA with three of her daughters following in her footsteps to build their own careers as CNAs.

Ida’s hobbies include making T-shirts, candles and wreaths. She also enjoys playing bingo.
