Laboratory Operations Manager Jay Honored as Leader of the Quarter

Laboratory Operations Manager Jay has received North Oaks Health System's Leader of the Quarter Award for January-March 2022.

In 2017, Jay joined the North Oaks team as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II on the evening and then night shift. More than three years later in 2021, he was promoted to Laboratory Operations Manager.

“I enjoy using my passion for science and learning to help others,” shares Jay.

Jay shares that his grandmother’s 53-year Microbiology career inspired his own professional pursuits.

“I essentially grew up in a laboratory,” Jay explains.

After completing prerequisite courses at Southeastern Louisiana University, Jay graduated from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences. While at Southeastern, he shared his school spirit as a competitive cheerleader.

Jay and his wife Sarah live in Mandeville with their dog Maggie.

Fishing, hiking and vacationing in our country’s national parks are some of Jay’s favorite pastimes.

Professionally, he belongs to the International Society of Blood Transfusion.

“Jay’s leadership and unwavering focus on improving the lives of patients helps inspire and define the heart and soul of our team," asserts Laboratory Director Rachel Litchliter. "This was clearly made evident as he provided important leadership to our team throughout the pandemic and during our preparation, response and recovery from Hurricane Ida.”
