Communications Specialist Laura Honored as Employee of the Month

Communications Specialist Laura has received North Oaks Health System's Employee of the Month Award for June 2020.

Laura, whose mantra is showing kindness and being the reason someone smiles, joined the North Oaks family in 2012 in her current position.

“I love my North Oaks coworkers and how everyone seems to look out for one another – just like a family does,” she shares.

She has transformed her interest in the medical field and passion for great customer service into a health care marketing and communications career spanning three decades.

“It’s the perfect fit for me. I have the privilege of sharing the good news about North Oaks with our staff and community and improving lives in the process. The world of communications is evolving rapidly, presenting new and exciting challenges almost daily,” she explains.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of New Orleans in the city she grew up in. She now resides in Covington.

Her favorite way to spend her time is with her 21-year-old daughter Julia, her dogs, Cookie and Penny, and her “granddog,” Millie. She also enjoys reading and completing DIY projects around her home. Recently, she has taken up online cooking classes and has proudly cooked lobster for the first time, perfected grilling a steak and elevated her scrambled eggs game.

A huge fan of all things “Disney,” Laura looks forward to revisiting Walt DisneyWorld and traveling to other locales once the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
