Infection Prevention Manager Amanda Honored as Leader of the Quarter

Infection Prevention Manager Amanda Morse has received North Oaks Health System's Leader of the Quarter Award for January-March 2020.

Amanda joined North Oaks in 2005 as a Surgery Unit Staff Registered Nurse and then Charge Nurse. She transferred to Endoscopy as a Charge Nurse and was promoted to Surgery Unit Manager in February 2015. She became Infection Prevention Manager in December 2015, combining her fascination with the science of “invisible bugs” and passion for prevention in a rewarding career. She is board certified in Infection Control and Epidemiology.

“Helping to ensure a safe care environment for our patients and staff is how I improve lives,” shares Amanda.

Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana State University. The opportunities in the field of nursing to show compassion and mercy for others is what initially attracted her to the profession. Specializing in the infection control aspects of nursing now enables her to combine her fascination with the science of “invisible bugs” and her passion for prevention in one rewarding career.

She makes her home in Denham Springs with her children, 8-year-old Micah and 6-year-old Amelia, and her 17-year-old niece Jennifer.

As pastimes, Amanda likes to read, paint, scrapbook and involve herself in whatever her children and niece are doing!

Amanda proudly serves on the board of directors for the Greater New Orleans Chapter for the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and was recently appointed to Louisiana’s Nursing Home Strike Team for Region 9.

“Throughout our COVID-19 response, Amanda has provided phenomenal support through constant research, recommendations and leadership for implementation of best practices to help keep our patients, staff and community safe," affirms Terri Lewis, Vice President of Emergency and Surgical Services. "We are fortunate to have such a confident, composed, well-prepared infection prevention expert on our team.”
