SICU Charge Nurse Kassie has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence of the Year Award for 2018.
Kassie joined the North Oaks team in 2010 as a Staff Registered Nurse (RN) on the Telemetry Unit. In 2012, she transferred to Surgical Services as a Staff RN for the newly created Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). After relocating out-of-state for a brief period of time, she returned to SICU in 2014 as a Staff RN. In 2015, she was promoted to SICU Charge Nurse.
“Living a life of kindness is important to me,” Kassie shares.
Kassie earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing through Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge. Her desire to serve others in times of need inspired her career choice.
A resident of Hammond, Kassie likes to travel, read and spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoys watching college baseball and softball.
“Kassie is highly skilled and knowledgeable when it comes to the critical care of surgical and trauma patients,” affirms Postoperative Director Jackie Carr. “Her work ethic and ability to remain positive, even in challenging times, inspire our team.”
