Telemetry Unit Staff RN Karen has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for September 2018.
In April 2015, Karen joined the Operating Room team as a Circulating Registered Nurse. She transferred to the Telemetry Unit as a Staff Registered Nurse in June 2016. She frequently helps out as a Relief Charge Nurse and mentoring new staff members as a Preceptor.
"I love hearing stories about my patients' lives," shares Karen. "Having that connection helps me better care for them."
Karen earned an associate degree in Nursing through Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tennessee.
She lives in Tickfaw with her husband Elliott. They have four children – Rae-Anne, 18; Elliott Jr., 17; James, 14; and Garrette, 11.
Spending time with family and reading are favorite pastimes. Karen adds that she would really love to learn to play the banjo one day.
“Karen’s patients and coworkers agree that Karen treats everyone like family," affirms Telemetry Unit Clinical Nurse Manager Jesse Donahue. "North Oaks is a better place because of Karen and the exceptional care she provides.”
