Surgery Center Staff RN Jessica Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Surgery Center Staff Registered Nurse Jessica has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for December 2019.

In 2003, Jessica joined North Oaks as a Staff Registered Nurse on the Medicine Unit and went on to join the Operating Room team in 2005. She accepted her current position with North Oaks Surgery Center in 2014.

“Patient safety and education take priority in my caring," shares Jessica.

This marks the second time that Jessica has been recognized for Nurse Excellence at North Oaks. She first received the award in 2016.

When Jessica earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the New Orleans campus of William Carey College, she fulfilled a career goal she set for herself at the age of 6. “The care I received for my own health problems as a child inspired my drive to help others in their time of need,” Jessica shares.

Jessica and her husband Chad live in Albany with their children –Madison, 18; Chad Jr., 13; Karson, 13; Kole, 11; and Kullen, 5.

Outdoor activities with her family are Jessica’s favorite way to spend her time.

“Jessica truly enjoys giving back and has a gift for bonding with her patients," affirms Becky Glascock, clinical nurse manager. "We depend on her to work in many areas of North Oaks Surgery Center. She is as comfortable and confident working in pre-admissions testing as she is in the operating room or recovery room. She also helps out in the North Oaks Medical Center operating rooms.”
