Same Day Surgery Charge Nurse Alexis Receives Nurse Excellence Award for August 2019

Same Day Surgery Charge Nurse Alexis has received the North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for August 2019.

Alexis joined Same Day Surgery in 2014 as a Staff Registered Nurse. In 2016, she was promoted to Charge Nurse.

"I approach each day with a positive attitude, open mind and helping hand," shares Alexis.

She pursued her chosen profession with the desire to put her lighthearted personality to work helping to relieve the anxiety patients may feel as they face surgery.

“By providing comfort and care, my hope is to make surgery less frightening for them,” she explains.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a minor in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

“Alexis works diligently to ensure patients are receiving the very best care," asserts Clinical Nurse Manager Carmen Krail. "She leads by example and makes sure that her coworkers are set up for success. She is an excellent communicator and dedicated patient advocate.”

Alexis and her husband Corey live in Mandeville with their sons Bennett, 1 ½, and Corbin, 10 months.

Away from work, she cherishes time with her family. Alexis also likes to dance.

“I started dancing at the age of 2, and I can’t stop. I won’t stop,” she asserts. “You could say, ‘I’ve got the music in me!’”
