The Tangipahoa Parish Council has appointed Angelique Richardson, a businesswoman and longtime resident of Ponchatoula, to the Board of Commissioners for North Oaks Health System. North Oaks also is known as Hospital Service District No. 1 of Tangipahoa Parish.
Richardson was appointed at the council’s Nov. 12 meeting to replace the late Robert E. Barsley, DDS, JD, who passed away Sept. 28. Richardson fills Barsley’s unexpired six-year term, which began in December 2015.
After amassing 18 years of experience in finance and accounting in leadership roles such as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), compliance officer and controller for companies including Jani-King Gulf Coast and Tolleson Wealth Management, Richardson branched out on her own in July 2019 to found Accentuate Financial LLC. She serves as owner and chief executive officer of the outsource CFO services firm based in her hometown of Ponchatoula.
“I am grateful to be appointed, and I look forward to working with the board to uphold North Oaks’ mission to improve lives. I am hopeful that my background as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and my industry experience as a CFO will provide another supportive voice to the already exemplary board of commissioners,” asserts Richardson. “Our communities are blessed to have such a successful health system locally, and I am honored to be a part of those responsible for protecting and growing this gift.”
Richardson earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans. In addition to being a certified public accountant, she is a notary public and chartered global management accountant.
Locally, she belongs to the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Business Advisory Board and is a Leadership Tangipahoa class of 2016 alumna, serving as treasurer of the organization since 2017. She puts “service above self” as a member of the Ponchatoula Rotary Club for which she was secretary from 2007-2012 and president in 2014. Throughout the years, the South Tangipahoa Parish Chapter of the American Cancer Society benefited from Richardson’s leadership as a team captain. She also volunteers with Junior Achievement working with youth to foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills.
She became involved with Ponchatoula’s St. Joseph School Advisory Council in 2014 as vice president and has led as president since 2015. She also has shared her time and talents with St. Joseph Church in Ponchatoula as a Core Committee member for the past four years.
Her professional memberships include: the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners; the Louisiana Association of Certified Public Accountants for which she has been a Business and Industry board member since 2017; the Louisiana Notary Association; the Institute of Management Accountants; and the New Orleans chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants for which she received the 2004 Member of the Year Award.
Richardson also has been honored by: New Orleans CityBusiness as a 2011 Money Maker; the Roman Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge as a 2016 Mother Seton Award recipient; and the Ponchatoula Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow, the 2015 Rotarian of the Year and the 2010 Addie Morris Service Award recipient.
Other North Oaks Board of Commissioners members are Chairman Ron Macaluso, JD, and Vice Chairman Ann Carruth, DNS, RN, of Hammond; Blake Daniels of Ponchatoula; Terry Harper and Ron Orsi of Loranger; and Joycelyn Lee, RPh, of Hammond.
