Medical Intensive Care Unit Charge Nurse Brad Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Medical Intensive Care Unit Charge Nurse Brad has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for November 2019.

Brad joined the North Oaks Medical Center team in 2006 as a Staff Registered Nurse on the Intermediate Care Unit. He transferred to the Medical Intensive Care Unit in 2008 and was promoted to Charge Nurse in 2012.

“Working with our critical care team and pulmonologists to help patients recover fills me with pride," shares Brad.

Beyond the reward of helping critical patients overcome their illnesses, Brad shares that he also finds fulfillment in helping to educate and mentor new nurses and set them up for success.

He earned an associate degree in Nursing from Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit.

Brad makes his home in Denham Springs with his wife Sarah and son Cambre, 14.

Away from work, you can find Brad outdoors fishing and hunting. He especially likes to bow hunt.

“Patient safety is Brad’s priority," affirms Bess Himel, Clinical Nurse Manager. "He is highly engaged in creating and championing new processes to raise the bar specific to skin, wound and stroke care. Brad’s strong clinical skills, critical care experience, leadership ability and compassionate heart leave a lasting impression on everyone he encounters.”
