The spice rack can be more than a source of flavor for meals for those with diabetes.
Learn how to use herbs and spices as a tool to help you manage your diabetes by attending a free group meeting, sponsored by North Oaks Diabetes Education, from 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.
North Oaks Dietetic Intern Emma Pittman will share tips for incorporating herbs and spices into your diet to not only achieve more flavorful meals, but also to manage blood sugar levels and help reduce inflammation.
The meeting will be held in the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center, located within North Oaks Diagnostic Center at 15837 Paul Vega, M.D., Drive in Hammond. Provider referrals and pre-registration are not required.
Time for participants to share their own experiences, tips, ideas and concerns also is planned.
North Oaks Diabetes Education offers group meetings on a monthly basis to discuss insights on current health topics to help participants live their healthiest lives. The meetings are free and open to those with diabetes, their families and friends.
The American Diabetes Association recognizes North Oaks Diabetes Education as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.
