Dr. Jennifer Owens Joins North Oaks Surgical Associates

Owens earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed her residency through the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, also in New Orleans.

Professionally, she belongs to the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Association of Women Surgeons and Louisiana State Medical Society.

Owens specializes in diagnosis of and surgical intervention for complex health conditions. Interventions include, but are not limited to: breast cancer-related procedures, colonoscopy, colon resections, gallbladder removal, hernia repair, laparoscopic and robotic procedures, tumor excisions, splenectomy and thyroidectomy.

“I think it’s important to individualize the treatment plan for each patient to fit his or her particular situation and needs because outside circumstances can greatly influence the disease and healing processes,” she explains.

Likewise, Owens emphasizes the importance of early screening and preventative health care in her practice.

“Early detection is very important – especially with breast and colon cancer,” Owens explains. “If caught early enough, both have a good chance of being cured.”

North Oaks Surgical Associates operates clinics in Hammond and Livingston. The Hammond clinic is located in Suite 108B of the North Oaks Office Plaza at 15770 Paul Vega, MD, Drive in Hammond. The Livingston clinic is located in Suite 210 at 17199 Spring Ranch Road within North Oaks-Livingston Parish Medical Complex. Hours of operation for both clinics are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
