Labor & Delivery Staff RN Jennifer Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Labor & Delivery Staff RN Jennifer has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for August 2016.

“I strive to make expectant mothers’ experiences special and memorable,” Jennifer shares.

In December 2011, Jennifer joined North Oaks as a Labor & Delivery Unit Staff RN. She also helps mentor new staff members as a preceptor.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University, where obstetrics was her favorite clinical rotation. “After I saw my first birth, I knew this was where I was meant to be,” she explains.

Jennifer is studying to become a certified nurse midwife through Frontier Nursing University based in Hyden, Kentucky.

She lives in her native Denham Springs with her husband Michael and their children, Alyssa, 5, and Noah, 3.

Away from work, Jennifer’s priority is family. She also plays the piano and loves to read.

“Jennifer personifies excellence in leadership and nursing. She is a true patient advocate driven to help mothers reach the goal of delivering a happy, healthy baby,” affirms Kimberly Woods, Women & Children’s Services Director.
