Intensive Care Unit Staff Nurse Stefanie has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for November 2016.
"Every patient deserves respect and dignity," Stefanie shares.
Stefanie joined the health system team in 1996 as a Staff Registered Nurse at North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital. Two years later in 1998, she transferred to the Telemetry Unit at North Oaks Medical Center. She was promoted to Coordinator of the Telemetry Unit and Centralized Monitoring in 2002. In 2013, she transferred to the Medicine Unit as Nursing Manager and accepted her current position in December 2014.
Stefanie graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
She lives in her hometown of Hammond with her husband, Ernie, and their three children— Austin, 20; Zachary, 17; and Morgan, 12.
Away from work, Stefanie dedicates her time to her family and following her children’s activities.
As pastimes, she plays golf and reads, and she is a huge fan of George Lucas’ "Star Wars" franchise.
"Stefanie connects with her patients and their families in a very compassionate way. Her work ethic, assessment skills and knowledge of the way medical conditions progress have earned her the well-placed respect of her coworkers,” affirms Clinical Nurse Manager Charles Abrams, RN.
