Medicine Unit Staff RN/Clinical Practice Facilitator Selena has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for December 2016.
"Even the smallest gestures--a smile, a hand to hold--can make a difference in how someone feels," shares Selena.
Selena joined the Medicine Unit team in 2015 as a Staff Registered Nurse. She gained experience as a Relief Charge Nurse and Preceptor before adding the role of Clinical Practice Facilitator to her Staff RN duties in 2016. In this capacity, Selena helps orient new staff and care for patients.
Selena shares that her mother’s career as a nurse inspired her own.
She graduated from McNeese State University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Originally from Iota, Louisiana, she currently lives in Ponchatoula with her husband, Ryan.
Away from work, Selena enjoys time spent with her family and friends and shopping.
“Selena’s priorities are making sure that her patients receive the best care possible and that they have an exceptional experience during their stay with us. She is a true patient advocate,” affirms Medicine Unit Clinical Nurse Manager Shana Hernandez.
