TANGIPAHOA PARISH
Male Nominees
Cole Stevens, Loranger High School
Comments: He is always the first one to arrive and last one to leave. His actions on and off the field make him a great example for all his teammates and other students. He is always willing to offer a helping hand even after a long day at practice. |
Steven Allen, Ponchatoula High School
Comments: He has been an Offensive leader for the past 3 years. He is a role model for younger players and leads by example. He is always on time for practices and meetings. |
Hunter Stanley, St. Thomas Academy
Comments: He makes coaching fun. You never have to worry if he’s giving you everything he’s got or if he hasn’t done his school work. He represents our school perfectly in every manner. |
Female Nominees
Kristen Favalora, Hammond High Magnet School
Comments: Kristen was chosen by her team as the varsity co-captain this year, so this shows that her teammates think she is a great leader. She has played all 4 years of high school and has never missed a practice and/or game. We participate in several community service projects as a team and she always arrives early and stays late to help without being asked. Kristen is hardworking, dedicated, and determined in everything she is involved in. Athletes like her only come around so often and I am going to miss her very much next year. |
Morrison “Airi” Hamilton, Ponchatoula High School
Comments: I have personally seen Airi volunteer at the Special Olympics held at SLU last year. She also volunteered several days at the Little League World Series which was held at the Ponchatoula Recreational Park this past summer. Airi is always the first to volunteer to lend a helping hand. |
Bre’Ashlee Jones, Jewel Sumner High School
Comments: This student- athlete is a leader in the classroom. She pushes herself to succeed and others as well. During her break time at school, she tutors other students. She is very involved in her church as well. |
LIVINGSTON PARISH
Male Nominees
Andrew Shelton, Live Oak High School
Comments: This past summer a large mass was discovered under Andrew's left eye. Andrew went to St. Jude to have the mass removed, but in spite of surgeries and being under constant doctor's care, he has still taken every opportunity to be involved with the football team over the rest of the summer and the beginning of school. Andrew has attended workouts he couldn't participate in, filmed practices, and made himself available and useful in countless ways. He clearly demonstrates that leadership and being part of a team means more than playing time. Players and coaches alike are inspired by his example. |
William Rogers, Springfield High School
Comments: Will is able to play sports and make great grades in the classroom. He helps tutor his teammates in Math and other subjects. He is active in his church group. |
Kyle Baudoin, Walker High School
Comments: Kyle does an outstanding job of balancing academics & sports with a 4.0 GPA. He is an academic tutor for other students after school. He does a great job of encouraging younger athletes in our area in the middle school and elementary school meets that he volunteers to work. He has a 30 on his ACT test. |
Female Nominees
Carly Johnson, Walker High School
Comments: Carly has been looked to as a leader long before she became a senior. She has a positive attitude and encourages her teammates to strive for success all of the time. You never hear a negative thing come out of her mouth. Regardless of how busy she is she will take the time to help anyone out. It can be with school work or younger players working on a particular skill. She does some many little things that often go unnoticed or thanked, but that never stops her from doing them. She doesn't do it for the recognition but because that is just the type of person she is. She does then not for the accolades but because it is what is best for the team. |
Darilyn Rogers, Albany High School
Comments: Darilyn has been a great leader and player for our team. When she is not playing basketball, she spends her spare time working for Erdey's Sandwich Shop in Albany. Darilyn shows great leadership not only on the court but also in life by going to school full time, being an active member in her church, holding a job and even helping her older sister with the Albany Middle School girls basketball team. |
Jessica Gregoire, Springfield High School
Comments: Jessica is a highly involved student-athlete. She has great school spirit and participates in many extracurricular activities. She has been Captain of the softball team since her sophomore season and has demonstrated excellent leadership skills throughout her time at Springfield High School on and off the field. She has been a model student helping others through tutoring opportunities when asked. |
Voting ends Thursday, 5/7/15 at midnight.
